The redband parrotfish (Sparisoma aurofrenatum) is a stunning addition to any vibrant aquarium. With their strong beaks, they scrape algae off rocks and coral tissue, playing an important role in reef ecosystems by contributing to sand formation. Typically found in small groups of 2–4 individuals in coral reefs and warm-water habitats, they may form larger schools when migrating or foraging. When introducing redband parrotfish to aquariums with corals or underwater decorations, careful consideration is needed, as their grazing habits can impact delicate structures. However, they can thrive in a community tank with other peaceful fish, provided there is ample space and hiding spots.
