The painted parrotfish (Scarus iseri), with its pink, yellow and turquoise stripes on the face and sides, is a medium-sized parrotfish that can be housed in a smaller size aquarium than most of the other larger parrotfish and the very similar looking species, the princess parrotfish. They use they're powerful beak to scrape off algae from rocks and coral tissue from corals, contributing to the formation of the sand of the reefs. Careful selection of these fishes should be considered when introducing to aquariums with corals or underwater decorations.

The painted parrotfish (Scarus iseri), with its pink, yellow and turquoise stripes on the face and sides, is a medium-sized parrotfish that can be housed in a smaller size aquarium than most of the other larger parrotfish and the very similar looking species, the princess parrotfish. With their strong beaks, they scrape algae off rocks and coral tissue, playing an important role in reef ecosystems by contributing to sand formation. Typically found in small groups of 2–4 individuals in coral reefs and warm-water habitats, they may form larger schools when migrating or foraging. When introducing painted parrotfish to aquariums with corals or underwater decorations, careful consideration is needed, as their grazing habits can impact delicate structures. However, they can thrive in a community tank with other peaceful fish, provided there is ample space and hiding spots.
Size ranges but typically 2-8 inches, however these fish can grow to around 12 inches long
